Start from the product website and its intended App Store destination. Check which app you are getting, read the privacy information, and understand any requested input permission. A familiar name or a polished download button alone does not identify the software.
Start with the destination, not the biggest button
Many products use the words “mouse jiggler” or “mouse mover.” A search result, advertisement, or download directory may point to a different tool from the one you intended to install.
For the app on this website, use our linked Mac App Store listing. Check the listing’s identity and current compatibility. A direct link helps distinguish this product from similarly named software; it does not remove the need to read what the app does.
Understand what macOS checks
Apple describes Gatekeeper as a protection for opening downloaded software. Outside the App Store, macOS checks developer signing and, under its normal modern defaults, notarization. These checks address software identity and known malicious content.
A security check is not a promise that an app suits your workflow or a substitute for reading its privacy policy. If a file differs from the expected store-based installation, stop and establish where it came from. Follow Apple’s explanation of the displayed alert rather than disabling protections because a website tells you to.
Match permissions to the feature
A native tool that controls the pointer needs the relevant macOS input-control permission. That is different from permission to read files, capture the screen, or access the microphone. Review each prompt on its own terms.

Look for an ongoing source of updates
